For the digital SAT · Math and Reading & Writing · scored 400 to 1600

SAT prep that starts with the questions you miss.

Graphite SAT reads every wrong answer, works out why you picked it, and builds tomorrow's practice around that mistake. Twenty to forty minutes a day, planned backward from your test date.

  1. Take the diagnostic

Ten questions from every part of the test, six Math and four Reading and Writing. You also say how sure you were on each, so a lucky guess doesn't hide a weak spot.

  2. Get a plan to your test date

Results are split into the eight skill areas the College Board reports, ranked by how many points each can still give you.

  3. Practice a little every day

Each set aims at your weakest areas. Anything you miss comes back a few days later, until you get it right twice.

  4. Retest every three weeks

A full practice test shows what moved, and the plan shifts time toward whatever is still costing you points.

I picked C on number 12. Why is it wrong?

hint 1You set up 0.15x = 42, which finds 15% of the original price. The question gives the price after a 15% discount. What percent of the original price is left?

The calculatorTopline sits beside every question

Topline, our graphing calculator

A graphing calculator that sits next to the question

Type an equation, then tap where the graph crosses to read the answer off the screen. It opens beside every practice question, so you never switch tabs.

  • Type math the way you write it

/ makes a fraction, ^ an exponent, sqrt a root. No menus.

  • Tap a curve for its points

Intercepts, the minimum or maximum and every intersection, with exact coordinates.

  • Regressions in one line

y₁ ~ mx₁ + b fits a line to a table and shows R².

  • The same moves as test day

Desmos course14 lessons on the moves that save time

The Desmos moves that save the most time

Bluebook puts Desmos next to every Math question, and most students only use it to multiply. Our 14-lesson course teaches the moves that solve or check a third to half of the Math section, and when doing it by hand is faster.

  1. Graph both sidesAny equation, any degree. Type each side, then click where the graphs cross.
  2. The tilde trickAsked for a, b and c in an equivalent expression? A list of x-values and one regression finds all three.
  3. Regression from a tableTurn data into a line or an exponential model in one line of typing.
  4. Sliders for unknown constantsDrag k until the lines go parallel, then confirm it by hand in ten seconds.
  5. Nine more, and a checklistSmall habits like checking angle mode and brackets, so a right method doesn't give you a wrong answer.
The tilde trick

(5x − 17)(4x − c) = ax² + bx + 119 for all x. What is c?

  1. x_1=[2,3,4]
  2. (5x_1-17)(4x_1-c)~ax_1^2+bx_1+119
c = 7a = 20b = −103

About 20 seconds in Desmos. By hand you'd expand and match coefficients: 17c = 119, so c = 7. The course teaches both, so you can check one with the other.

Staying on trackStreaks, reminders, pauses and the score-up promise

Made for the long stretch to test day

Most SAT prep doesn't fail on the first day. It fails in week three, when practice slips and nobody notices. These are the things that keep it going.

Streaks

Miss a day, keep the streak

One missed day a week is covered by a streak freeze, automatically. A streak should reward showing up, not punish a busy Tuesday.

Reminders

One nudge, at your hour

Pick the time in Settings. You get at most one reminder a day, and none on a day you've already practiced.

Plan

Every day has one job

The plan counts down to your test date and sizes each day to the time you said you have, so you never start by wondering what to do.

Parents

A weekly report for parents

Study time, scores and what's next, by email every week, plus an alert if practice stops. Students can see exactly what parents see.

Breaks

Pause instead of quitting

Exams, a trip, a busy season: pause the plan for 30 days and nothing is billed. Your history and plan are there when you come back.

Every account can try the full plan for 7 days. No card, and it goes back to the free plan by itself, so there's nothing to remember to cancel.

Score-up
promise

Do the work and your score goes up, or we refund your last two months

On Mechanical. Here is every condition, with nothing else in the fine print: you were on the plan for at least 6 weeks before your SAT, finished at least 80% of the sessions in your plan and at least 3 full practice tests, and took the SAT within 60 days of your last session. If your official score isn't higher than your first full Graphite practice test (or your last official SAT, if that's higher), email us your score report within 30 days of getting it. One refund per student. Full terms.

Why Graphite SAT exists

Most SAT prep hands you a pile of questions and a score at the end. The score tells you how you did. It doesn't tell you why you picked C.

We built Graphite SAT around that question. Every wrong answer gets a reason, every reason turns into practice, and the practice keeps coming back until the mistake stops showing up. It's slower than skimming another thousand questions. It works better.

The Graphite SAT team

Questions parents and students ask

How much will my score go up?

We don't promise a number of points, because gains depend on where you start and how much time you put in. We do promise that it goes up if you do the work: the score-up promise lists every condition. Your dashboard shows your practice scores after each test, so you can see what's working within the first three weeks.

How early should we start?

Eight to twelve weeks before the test works well for most students. If your test is closer, Graphite SAT shortens the plan and puts more time on the domains with the most points available.

Does the tutor just give out answers?

No. It starts with a hint, then the method, and shows the full solution only when you ask for it. Students who work through the hints remember the method on the next question.

Can parents see progress?

Yes. On Mechanical, a parent gets a weekly email with practice time and practice test scores. Students can see exactly what parents see.

How do the free trial and canceling work?

Any account can try Mechanical free for 7 days from the subscription page. There's no card, and it switches back to the free plan by itself. Mechanical can be paused for 30 days or canceled from the same page, in two taps; a canceled plan keeps working until the end of what you paid for.

What device do I need?

Daily sets work on a phone, tablet, Chromebook or laptop. Take full practice tests on a laptop, Chromebook or tablet, since that's what you'll use in Bluebook on test day.

Is Graphite SAT the official SAT?

No. Graphite SAT is independent and isn't affiliated with the College Board. Our practice tests follow the published structure of the digital SAT. For official practice tests, use the College Board's Bluebook app alongside Graphite SAT.

What do you do with student data?

We use it to run the tutor and build the study plan. We don't sell it, and we don't show ads. The privacy policy lists everything we collect.
